OTRS Community, Znuny and Ubuntu 22.04
Hi, I would like to know if Ubuntu 22.04 has been tested with OTRS Community. Same question with Znuny.
Is it supported ?
I saw on the Shell install script of OTRS installation "Please note that the Shell Installer is still experimental at this point. It supports CentOS 8, Debian 11, Rocky Linux 8.4 to 8.6, Ubuntu 20.04, and Ubuntu 21.04. "
Has it been tested on 22.04 to ?

Hi,
There is no shell installer, neither with the OTRS Community Edition nor Znuny.
And to answer you're question: I've already installed Znuny on 22.04 with success.

I became curious and googled for the shell installer. It looks like Centuran provides a shell installer for their fork of the community edition. See https://otrscommunityedition.com/downloads/.

Yes, there is one. But this is not relevant to this forum, even not the link to this page.bschmalhofer wrote: ↑24 Aug 2022, 16:58 I became curious and googled for the shell installer. It looks like Centuran provides a shell installer for their fork of the community edition.

Re: OTRS Community, Znuny and Ubuntu 22.04
So the current community edition by Centuran isn't supported by Znuny ?
I thought it was the "official" current Community Edition.
This is very strange, because this is what is written in the latest patch they provide :
"This version introduces many minor changes and bug fixes that have recently been made in the Znuny LTS fork of ((OTRS)) Community Edition. With these changes, the version maintained and developed by us becomes fully compatible with Znuny LTS and can be therefore be used as a migration path for both users of the legacy ((OTRS)) Community Edition and of the Znuny LTS system."
I thought there was a collaboration between Znuny and this new Community Edition, it isn't the case ?

Hi,
the only officialn OTRS community version is the one created by OTRS and can be found on github. The release of this version was stopped end of 2020. Official (commercial) OTRS versions are currently 7 and 8.
There are plenty of forks available:

- Kix Desk (forked from 5)
- Znuny
- Otobo
- O-Fork
- Fork from Centuran (which did the marketing trick to name it community edition
- some more, but all seem to be dead

Re: OTRS Community, Znuny and Ubuntu 22.04
Just to be precise. The fork is named "((OTRS)) Community Edition" with the exact same spelling that the OTRS Group uses. I don't want to think about what it would be if they had named it just ...

they just use Znuny LTS as base for the changes. The code is similar/the same. So it is easy to adopt changes to their fork.
I think this is the reference they are talking about. And it will, mostly work for the LTS part only and not for Znuny.
Which includes a bunch of new features.
And not we don't have a collaboration.

Johannes

Thank you for all these informations.
Do you think Znuny will keep maintaining a free version on long term ?

Hi,
Yes, there are no plans to abandon the application from the public. See also the roadmap. I recommend subscribing to the community newsletter to stay informed.
