If you do not want to see all the "NOTICE" messages in your logfile, but the "ERROR" messages, you could use MinimumLogLevel. This package is developed and tested with OTRS 3.0.x, but should also work with OTRS 2.4.x.
You can define the minimum level that is logged in to the file in SysConfig (Framework -> Core::Log).
