Installation on a non dedicated server

Post by webrod »

Hi,

my web site is on OVH, but not on a dedicated server, it is a shared server (not sure about the english word).
So I do not have access to the apache configuration, and cannot restart the server.

Before I go further with the instalaltion process, Is it possible to install ORTS on such a server?
Because when I read the installation guide, it looks like it requires a configuration of Apache and a restart...

Best regards
Rod

Hi,

I have the same problem exactly.
How can i upload OTRS to my own non dedicated host and run it?
index.pl and installer.pl are not in the root directory or subdirectories, so i can't access them to run.

is there any solution?

Hi,

if you want to run OTRS, you must be able to access the apache configuration. Apart from that, you need to install a set of Perl modules, and you should be able to run cron jobs. Most shared hosting setups don't allow this, you would probably need to have a VPS (virtual private server) at least to pull this off.
