Hi Tomas,

Which Linux version are you on? If you're on a distribution such as CentOS, Red Hat, Suse, you should download the appropriate RPM from http://otrs.org/download
If you're on Debian or Ubuntu, you'll find instructions here:
http://wiki.otrs-forum.de/index.php?tit ... %2810.4%29

For openSUSE, step-by-step instructions are here:
http://wiki.otrs-forum.de/index.php?tit ... n_openSUSE

And of course we have the manual which provides general instructions:
http://doc.otrs.org/2.4/en/html/c444.html

If you have questions, please feel free to ask!

8) I guess we would like to help you here, or at least to point you in the right direction. But for us to be able to do so, you would need at least specify what platform you're using (so: Windows Server 2008, or CentOS Linux, or Ubuntu or...??)

I can only recommend that you take a bundled package, if you are having problems installing on linux. If you really want linux, please try

Well, than, please follow these instructions. If you're stuck somewhere, please describe what you did and what issue you have.

http://wiki.otrs-forum.de/index.php?tit ... %2810.4%29

And, it seems like you're not really familiar with linux. As Shawn recommended, it might be a good solution to use a Turnkey VM. This will save you the hassle of installing and configuring Ubuntu and OTRS, it's just a simple, ready-made VM that you download. The only drawback is that the OTRS version there is a bit dated.

It would also be possible to update the turnkey linux machine after getting your system up-and-running. Another good appliance (which costs) is available @ http://www.jumpbox.com/ this has the advantage of OS support and upgrades, and it uses the newest OTRS.

Hi Tomas,

Configuring Apache::DBI is very simple, you already showed the couple of lines that you need, just replace my-secret-pass with the password you set for the database when using the web installer. If you forgot what you used, just look in /opt/otrs/Kernel/Config.pm and see what is stored under $Self->{DatabasePw}.

Setting up the cron jobs is described here:
http://wiki.otrs-forum.de/index.php?tit ... _cron_jobs
If you still have issues with that, please explain with WHAT part exactly.

And with 'some of the perl' you mean some modules? Please let us know which ones. It is true Encode::HanExtra is not in the Ubuntu or Debian repos currently, but most people don't need it, and there's a slightly outdated version of CGI, but that's also not a huge showstopper. Anything else should be OK as long as you just followed the instructions in the wiki.
