Using OTRS with Gsuite (From October 30)

Post by nfactorial »

On October 30, 2019, Gsuite will remove the access to less secure apps for entire domains and at the end of the year will be removed from account settings.

More information:

Only one question, How we can connect OTRS with this new Gsuite (Google) requirements to receive and send mails from the application?

I use OTRS 5

Thanks in advance.

Bump

We use gsuite with OTRS 6 Community. I'm concerned that we won't be able to use our support email from GSuite. Will there be a fix or should we be making contingency plans for alternative email / ticket system?

Hi,

No Need to worry or to change the ticket system. There are several alternatives for get e-mails into the system, like

- sending them via SMTP
- using fetchmail with OAuth

And you could ask a service provider for the Community Edition.

Znuny and Znuny LTS running on CentOS / RHEL / Debian / SLES / MySQL / PostgreSQL / Oracle / OpenLDAP / Active Directory / SSO

Use a test system - always.

It looks like fetchmail 6 + oauth2 is a hack.
fetchmail 7 appears to have oauth2 support built in however it's not released yet.

http://mmogilvi.users.sourceforge.net/s ... earer.html

Option 1: Patch fetchmail 6.X
Option 2: fetchmail 7 (alpha)

"The development branch for fetchmail 7 already includes an enhanced version of this patch. Additional improvements include: daemon mode will re-read the passwordfile regularly, it actually implements (and prefers) standardized "oauthbearer" in addition to "xoauth2", and adds POP support. See merge requests."

I'm going to give fetchmmail 7 a try once the deadline for google shutting down "Less Secure Apps" draws closer.

I'm guessing that this is going to be an issue for a great many people so I suspect solutions will start popping up. I see an opportunity for a blog post...

Does anyone in here have a link to a good article on configuring OTRS + fetchmail? I think it would be helpful to the entire community.
