Migration seems to be stuck, otrs 5.0.7 to 6.0.14

Hi,

I am trying to perform an OTRS Update on Debian 8 from Version 5.0.7 to 6.0.14

I have followed this manual:

after running:
root@gbd-lv-otrs:~# su -c "/opt/otrs/scripts/DBUpdate-to-6.pl" -s /bin/bash otrs
the otrs database is about 30GB in size

the process is was tuck in step:
Step 29 of 42: Post changes on article related tables ...

for several hours without any error or other log output.

I had to cancel and go back to my snapshot, because the update took too long and I had to restart the ticketing system for production use.

I have the following questions:
- how can I track if the migration is still running?
- I repeatedly checked /var/lib/mysql/error.log to check if some database errors occured
- checking the hard disk size it seems that the hard disk consumption is growing very slowly
. top | grep sql shows that the sql service is still using some %cpu

If the migration process really only requires more time, is there some way to increase the migration speed?
Any other ideas?

Hi,

just take more time. Seems the migration would have worked fine.

You can decrease the size of your database with getting the articles on the filesystem

second option would be deleting old tickets.

third option
more CPU, more I/O

On 30GB databases the migration takes time. Did it with a 6GB database and the script ran for >4 hours.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion to "wait"
It took 30hours to perform the migration but now everything seems to work fine.
