Update OTRS 5.0.11 to 6.0.12 AND CentOS 6 to 7

Post by mkunz »

Hello,
it is difficult to search for this here in the forum, because mostly the search results ends up to update only OTRS 5 to 6 on a fix operation system version, but it seems, that when want to upgrade from OTRS 5 to 6 I also need to upgrade CentOS 6 to 7.

So my problem in detail:
actual OTRS version running: 5.0.11 -> needs upgrade to 6.0.12
but server is running on CentOS 6.8.
The only available OTRS-rpm-package I found is for CentOS 7.
So I need to upgrade the server first to CentOS 7.x before I can upgrade the OTRS-version to 6.0.x. Or?
But I didn't find any howto or link for this.
Any link with short howto would be appreciated.

Thank you very much!

Hi,

Setup your CentOS 7 and install the RPM. Copy configuration, TicketCounter from the old server, import the database dump. Then check the database connection and start the migration. Just like it's described in the manual, just with two systems.

Thank you for you answer Roy.
So there is no possibility to upgrade the CentOS-version first and then update the RPM-package? I would switch off all services, like mysql-database and cronjobs first and then upgrade it to 7 and then upgrade the rpm-version?

Not possible?

Here is a Link (also with answeres from Roy) with more informations: viewtopic.php?t=38525
