The reporting time interval is too small, please use a larger time scale!

Post by robgtelikin »

A week or so ago, we started getting emails every hour with this content:

Code: Select all

> ERROR: OTRS-otrs.GenerateDashboardStats.pl-10 Perl: 5.18.2 OS: linux Time: Mon Oct 8 10:05:01 2018
>
> Message: The reporting time interval is too small, please use a larger time scale!

>     Module: main::Run Line: 138
> Module: /opt/otrs//bin/otrs.GenerateDashboardStats.pl Line: 155
We are currently running OTRS v.4.0.8.

Has anyone seen this, and if so, were you able to resolve it?

Hi Rob,

Check the scaling for the time period of your stat.

I am not sure where I would set this value. I have search the Statistics menu, and do not see a way to edit any values.

Actually, I think I found the spot. I was told that this was only for reports, but I am guessing this is also used to control the parameters for getting data and displaying the graph.

Does the Scale and Between values work together?

For instance, if the Between values cover a large time span, in this case 2 years, then should the Scale be a larger number?

If they (the team that uses this) want less Scale, then would they have to shorten the Between values?

Sorry to ask all these questions. I am dealing with issues from another team, and I do not really use this as they do.

Rob,

Yes the Scale and Between values work together. A 2 day scale about a time span of around 24 months is not really helpful. If you need this scale use a ticket list, for a graph a scale with 1 month or maybe 2 weeks should work.
