Came across this little problem during installation.
The command "SuSEconfig" is no longer present in OpenSUSE 12.3
With this being the case, how might I complete the OTRS installation?
Sorry, I know next to NOTHING about linux. The only reason I'm attempting the install is because the Windows version of OTRS has been causing me too many problems. So instructions on how to install OTRS on OpenSUSE 12.3 would be nice.
Thanks in advanced.

Sorry, I take that back. I have used linux in the past, but not at an administrator level. I knew enough to instal the OS, update/patch, and run a few shell commands. FreeBSD was second nature, however I've found that UNIX and Linux commands are slightly different. I chose OpenSUSE because I've favored it in the past.crythias wrote:What led you to OpenSUSE 12.3?TzunTzai wrote: I know next to NOTHING about linux
Would you recommend that I try another flavor?

Also, I'm running OpenSUSE as a VM via Hyper-V. Version 11.x had a few kinks when ran in HV. Version 12.3 installed and ran smoothly on HV out of box. Also why I chose it.

Personally, I like Ubuntu, but I'm not about to tell you to change for the sake of it.
I like installing by source instead of RPM.
I don't know enough about openSuSE (I'm installing the core onto my VirtualBox to find out) to make a statement about how to fix on the rpm.

Excellent idea. I'll give Ubuntu a try as well on VB.crythias wrote:Personally, I like Ubuntu, but I'm not about to tell you to change for the sake of it.

Re: Installing OTRS 3.2.x on OpenSUSE 12.3
I will say that there's only official support from OTRS for OpenSUSE 11.0 ... Frankly, after the little bit of time I've had with OpenSUSE 12.3, I figure I could make it work, but I'd certainly attempt by source, and, if I've gone that far, -- this is personal opinion -- I'd stay within the realm of distribution of which I'm familiar and know how to handle.
I get the allure of the package, but having installed OTRS by source so many times, I kind of like having control over every teaspoon of dirt. --- I know where they go, and what I installed and I have very few scattered pieces. -- except for otrs.conf in /etc/apache2/conf.d, everything otrs-specific that I need is within /opt/otrs. If I went distro-crazy, I might have docs in /usr/share and stuff in /var/lib and ... bleh.
Also, I recommend automysqlbackup.
