Upgrading OTRS From 3.0.10 to 3.2.3 CENTOS 6.3

Post by masarumi »

How would I upgrade my OTRS which is on CENTOS. Is there any written documentation that anyone would be kind enough to provide me with? Please. Detailed instructions would be good as I am very new to this and unsure of how to go about this.

Also, Would I have to first upgrade to 3.1.11-->3.1.12-->3.2.1..->3.2.3 or can I directly upgrade to 3.2.3.

Thanks.:)

It's inside the otrs directory; on centos/redhat systems it will probably be in /opt/otrs/UPGRADING

Failing that, just download the otrs source again and extract the tar.gz archive. The UPGRADING file will be inside.
Backend: OTRS 3.0.11 RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.2, Apache, MySQL with replication
Frontend: OTRS 3.0.11 RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.2 with SELinux, Apache SSL

The following are the instructions that were listed in the UGRADING file and also on the website:

http://doc.otrs.org/3.1/en/html/upgrading.html

However, it is not as detailed as I expected.
How would I backup the config files, copy them into another folder?
How would I back up the database? Copy it to another folder as well?

Also it says to setup a new system?
Does that mean that I should first install MYSQL, Apache on another CENTOS and then after the initial setup try upgrading??

Probably. I don't know what else you'd want to do... tar czvf your otrs folder might be a good idea. Or, if you're adventurous, you could use git, git add ., git commit -m "preupgrade backup".
Or use a filesystem backup utility.
Or rename the files
Or run the backup utility from OTRS
Or ... do an Internet search on how to back up files.

There's a word after that: Optional. It means that you don't have to, but if you want to test this out in a non-production environment, it'd be a good idea before you ask about why the upgrade doesn't work.
