[SOLVED]index.pl is being downloaded

Hi,

I have problems with otrs 3.0.9 installled on debian 6 system, the file index.pl is being downloaded always, i need restart the apache2 , see below the syslog.

-e: print() on closed filehandle LOG at /opt/otrs//Kernel/Output/HTML/Layout.pm line 1545.

Which user is running OTRS? What permissions does the logfile (or the directory in which the logfile is created) have?

I assume that you have configured OTRS to log into a file. You can check this in SysConfig at "Framework -> Core::Log"...

My assumptions were wrong. I just "grep"ped the OTRS sources and there is no LOG filehandle. Did you change anything in the OTRS codes? What OTRS version do you use?

I´m using the syslog and i didnt change the code and i´m using 3.0.9 version.

This error typically comes from a misconfigured apache. It seems that apache does not know how to handle .pl files correctly. Is mod_perl installed and configured in apache?

Never ever run apache with root permissions!

This error only happens sometimes, i think if the problem was the mod_perl, the error will be happen always.

Hi jojo,

see the installation manual i see the command ./otrs.CheckModules.pl | grep Not and the result is :

o Encode::HanExtra...............Not installed! (Optional - Required to handle mails with several Chinese character sets.)
o JSON::XS....................Not installed! (Optional - Install it for faster AJAX/JavaScript handling.)
o Net::LDAP......................Not installed! (Optional - Required for directory authentication.)

Is it a problem ?

You should install at least the first two of those, despite the matter that it will not solve the problem you have.
Net::LDAP is only needed when fetching or authenticating customer or agents information from some LDAP server.

I tried to switch to syslog, and the local file, but did not work. My question is, if possible, disable all OTRS logs, log off the test if I no longer have the problem

your system seems to be really misconfigured. Do you run any hardening software which prevents the usage of shared memory segments in apache? Is your syslogd running?

I do not know if I have this software that prevents the use of shared memory segments in Apache, the only other software I have is OCS inventory,and my apache runs on port 81, a problem with that?

We are facing the same problem: Most of the time it is working, but occasionally the server sends an empty page. In error.log I find the same message as paulosergio.

It seems to be the bug described here:
http://bugs.otrs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5338

According to this bugreport, it can be solved by using cgi instead of mod_perl. Currently I cannot try this on our server.

More information:
- OTRS version here is 3.0.8 on Debian
- Occurs when logging to file or syslog, tried both today.
- As paulosergio, OCS inventory is installed on the same machine
- Error did not occur until a Debian dist-upgrade which also included an update on OCS inventory
- No apache restart required to solve the problem. The next click on any OTRS-link or button is working.
- Permissions on OTRS files have been reset with the perl script described in INSTALL readme file.

The problem is in OCS Inventory.
Just comment two strings in /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/Apache/Ocsinventory/Server/System.pm (or another dir there OCS-Server is installed):
# select(LOG);
# $|=1;
And restart web-server.
P.S.: OCS logs will continue work.

Same problem here, OTRS 4 patch 7+OCSInventory 2.1.2 in same server (Ubuntu 12.04), random index.pl download.

I've applyed your solution and now works fine.

Well...not really solved, the problem is still there, I've was testing deeper and the problem with index.pl continues.
