[Closed] high availability (HA) setup question

Post by skullz »

Hi all,

Anyone who performed this HA setup before and provide some direction?
Apart of server level, do i also need some HA modules / configuration in OTRS layer ?

Hi,

What is this setup exactly you're talking about?

for an HA Setup typically some additional modules are needed
"Production": OTRS™ 8, OTRS™ 7, STORM powered by OTRS
"Testing": ((OTRS Community Edition)) and git Master

Hi,

I performed it sometimes and failed often in the begining. It needs multiple frontendservers, a cluster file systems, sharing memory and caches, you need a good hardware performance - virtualisation is mostly bad in HA setups - and a powerful load balancer. Knowledge about local unix mailsystems is needed and setting up OTRS in this environment maybe with a management server is a big deal.

I would not do it on my own, it also is because additional modules you need are commercial ones. I would rather get professional help for this.

Hi,

I got it running with Pacemaker/Corosync, MariaDB / MySQL Master-Master setup, Shared Storage with DRDB. Basically it depends on your definition of HA and the accepted time to switch from node to node. Invest enough in the infrastructure and there's no need for additional OTRS add-ons. Keep in mind the ROI.

Absolutely agree! HA-solution depends on requirements - RTO, RPO, SLA, SLW etc.
