Tickets locked and Can't connect to Product News server

Hello All,

i tried to migrate otrs 3.3.6 to another machine, but after that i had two problems.
First: i was trying to create Telephone ticket, but they will locked it. if i choosed the status(closed unsuccessfully, successfully closed and closed with workaround they will not to be locked.
Second: Can't connect to Product News server! ' and 'Can't connect to http://www.otrs.com/de/rss.xml ' I could not see any Product news.
I read in logfile :
[Error][Kernel::System::WebUserAgent::Request][259] Can't perform POST on https://cloud.otrs.com/otrs/public.pl: 500 select failed: An operation related to an object that is not a socket.
[Fri May 4 09:30:53 2018][Notice][Kernel::System::CloudService::Request] PublicCloudService - Can't connect to server - 500 select failed: An operation related to an object that is not a socket.
The system is 3.3.6 then i updated it to 4.0.1 then to 4.0.29 and the problems still.
I am using otrs under Windows Server 2018 R2.
Later i want also to upgrade otrs to version 6.

Could anyone help me please?

Windows is a non supported OS!

The solution you have is to migrate the actual installation from Windows to Linux: http://doc.otrs.com/doc/manual/admin/st ... s-to-linux

Then you can update the otrs installation to the 6 version.

ok. i understood that i must migrate to Linux (maybe ubuntu).
I have two questions. First regarding to PERL Modules (PerlEX) . this is a business Module on windows.
If i am using OTRS On linux, should i also install(buy) PerlEx until work OTRS with better speed or we don not need it, because it is very expernsive.
Second: should i install Ubuntu Desktop or Ubuntu Server?
I am sorry i have no experinence with Linux thats why i am asking.

Hi,

if you have no experience with Linux you should not use it at all, but choose a supplier who does! there are nice business models from vendor and 3rd party suppliers.

There is no "this is best linux" recommendation
Perl Modules are free to use on linux systems. "Free" in this case means, no costs.

    yes, but OTRS is saying, OTRS is working on Linux not anymore on Windows, so i am trying to switch to Linux. but i do not know to install it on ubuntu server or desktop

    I always use Ubuntu Server because it is usually more stable. And the best option is Ubuntu Server LTS.

    If you don´t have any experience on linux, it can be hard to set up well an installation with the otrs.

    Hi,

    from the vendor OTRS AG you can get managed system

    Other 3rd party companies also sell saas or otrs services as well.

    Just check your internet search machine, you will find many results.

      There is no best option. Many other users will tell you to use gentoo or debian or centos or whatever.

        When i said is best Ubuntu Server, I was only comparison with ubuntu desktop, like he was asking, not with another distributions.

        if i asked you. if i am gonna to use Desktop because maybe it is easier more than server. Do you think that?because i have no experinece.Or there are no difference?!

        As the name already states, desktop is for desktop usage not for sserver applications like OTRS. A lot of packages are not installed on a Desktop variant which are needed by OTRS.

        Also if you have no clue on running linux servers and applications you should go with a fully managed system and not setting your system and copmpany into any risk of data breaches

        Skilled, like any other thin in life, first you should learn about linux. You have multiple options, in my case i made a course of LPIC and prepared the certification, and I was practicing a lot. In internet threre is a tutorials with otrs, and setting up servers with linux, but as jojo said, you will have many problems, and that will generate a lot of risks.
