OTRS Console password
Hello,
I have running OTRS 6.06 and want to update it to OTRS 6.07 but I have ran into a problem. My otrs system is running on VM on ubuntu server and I cannot manage to remember OTRS console password. Is there a way to reset it or to find it? I need it to move files:
root > sudo su otrs
otrs > sudo su
Please write passowrd:
Thank you for any help.

Re: OTRS Console password
You were already logged in as root. So, why do you want sudo permissions for "otrs"? Everything that needs root permissions, should be done as root, not otrs.
But changing the password for "otrs" is simple:

Re: OTRS Console password
One more thing, I will write this in the same topic.
Again I am trying to update OTRS. I am following steps from https://doc.otrs.com/doc/manual/admin/6 ... ating.html and did backup by http://doc.otrs.com/doc/manual/admin/4. ... store.html.
I thought this will automatically backup my Kernel/Config.pm but it did not. When I tried to restore backup I run into error, your Kernel is missing you will need to install it something like it. I cannot find any legit tutorials how to backup and restore Kernel config. Could you please help me with that.
Best regards,
Marius

Re: OTRS Console password
I manage to detect Config.pm in old configuration. When I tried to copy it to updated otrs and then restore I run into error: ERROR: Already existing tables in this database. A empty database is required for restore! and when I delete it again the same error that there is no Config.pm file. Is it possible that this backup tool is not working properly and misses few files?
After backup I get these messeges:
root@fsc-ubuntu-vm:/opt/otrs/scripts# ./backup.pl -d /backup/
Backup /backup//2018-05-14_14-32/Config.tar.gz ... done
Backup /backup//2018-05-14_14-32/Application.tar.gz ... done
Dump MySQL data to /backup//2018-05-14_14-32/DatabaseBackup.sql.gz ... mysqldump: [Warning] Using a password on the command line interface can be insecure.
done
Cant it be because I do not dump mysql data? If yes, how do I do it?
Thank you for any help!

Re: OTRS Console password
UPDATE: I downloaded a file manager tool on ubuntu server and now I manage to locate these files that I backed up. I do manage to find a configuration files in my backup. For some reason restore command do not use them. Picture attached.
Re: OTRS Console password
One question, if I manualy copy and replace configuration files and var folder will my system update and keep the same? Or there are more files / folders to copy.
Best regards,
Marius

Re: OTRS Console password
Hi,
it is all in the docs admin manual (doc.otrs.org)
what files to backup and to restore.
You should consider to get a training for OTRS + Linux, and/or get professional help.

Flo
