Spell Check - aspell

Post by jfreeman2nc »

I enable spell checker in OTRS 3.0.5 and installed aspell. However, whenever I try to spell check a response I get the message, "Spell check complete: No misspellings found," even though there are misspelled words in the message. I made sure to install the English dictionary. and the settings in OTRS should be correct. I am running OTRS on Server 2008 R2, could the 64-bit environment be causing the issue? Just wondering if anyone has gotten this to work successfully running on a 64-bit OS?

Thank you in advance for your help!

I encountered that as well on linux, so your situation is not unique.
OTRS 6.0.x (private/testing/public) on Linux with MySQL database.

Did you manage to get this working? I did notice there was an option to use aspell or ispell? :?

Was just posing this question again, to see if anyone had found a solution? I am forced to use Internet Explorer 8 which doesn't have a built-in spell checker.

I was having the same issue, this is what I did, I'm also running a 64bit OS, instead of the path C:\Program Files x86\Aspell\bin\aspell.exe use the dos 8.3 short name of (C:\Progra~2\Aspell\bin\aspell.exe), if your still running into issues and don't trust the short path you can install aspell to a simple path like (c:\app\aspell\bin\aspell.exe). Until you configure the correct path it will continue to prompt that there isn't any misspellings when there really is.

I'm still having the same problem with OTRS 5.0.16 on Ubuntu Lucid (old, I know) with ispell installed. Anyone resolve?

Fixed by using aspell instead of ispell.

I have the same issue with - I dont think anyone (or maybe they would) would choose to run ispell over aspell due to character encoding. I just installed aspell on rel5.17 on CentOS 7 - what OS are you using and did you install from source or repo? I just ran into the issue but my time is at a premium so any help is appreciated.
