Need help with Customer User Info

Post by niccotrs »

I am importing users into the OTRS database using phpmyadmin. I am able to import successfully but have a question about the customer information that shows up when opening a new ticket.

I need the [customer_id] field to show in the OTRS ticket and am unable to get it to show. Everything else is showing fine. Also, if it is possible, how do you edit the fields that are showing, for example if I wanted to change the [customer_id] field to [data_id] or at least change the title of it when it shows in OTRS.

Has anyone had any experience in editing the Customer Info fields in OTRS tickets when using the MySql database backend?

Any feedback is welcome.

Thank you.

Hi Craig,

you need to configure your custom customer-user-data-backend. See http://doc.otrs.org/2.4/en/html/x1801.html for detailed information on how to to this.

regards, Torsten

PS: there's a free CustomerUserImportExport extension available at http://www.cape-it.de which allows you to import customer user data from CSV using the OTRS-ex-/import interface. Maybe it will be contained in future OTRS releases (http://bugs.otrs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4697)

Thank you so much for the info. These instructions worked great, I think I looked a bit at them before your post but your help nudged me over the edge to give them a go and they worked very well.

I peeked at the
CustomerUserImportExport extension available at http://www.cape-it.de which allows you to import customer user data from CSV using the OTRS-ex-/import interface.
tip you gave me and I decided to hold off on this for now as the site was in all german, nothing against the language I just don't speak it, but thank you for the tip and I will remember this option for the future.

I am using phpmyadmin to edit and import data to the mysql db. I work at a Community College of some 5500 students and we recently decided to not give them individual user accounts which were being pulled by ldap from eDirectory. Now I will just need to perform the import on a schedule before terms into the local mysql db. If anyone has any helpful ideas on importing and managing customer user accounts in the local mysql database I am all ears.

Thanks again.

...the website will be available in English next week. I can send you the package by mail, just send an email to support@cape-it.de and refer to our communication here.
