RSS news feed

Is it possible in OTRS to get an RSS feed of the tickets?
I'm currently using OTRS 6 Free.
Looking at the otrs package, I can see an RSS.pm file that seems to provide the Kernel::Output::HTML::Dashboard::RSS package.
However, I haven't managed to find any documentation on how to use it or I haven't worked out how to use it.
Does it need to be enabled first?

RSS is used the retreive and show external RSS feeds (for the dashboard)

I've found out how to enable the RSS module through the Admin -> System Configuration.
It seems to point to http://www.otrs.com/en/rss.xml by default.
Does OTRS 6 Free make xml files available that can be used by th RSS module?
Such as the output of saved search filters or predefined searches, such as Open Tickets?
