Hello there,
I'm pretty new to OTRS and I chosed it as my subject for the final exam.
I use the Appliance version on a Hyper-V VM.
After reinstalling the server I got the following problem: When I wanted to log into the web interface, the standard superuser credentials "root@localhost" with password "root" were not accepted. So I wanted to enter the local system settings on the OTRS-server to check the database, but when I enter the password (and it is the correct password, I tried it multiple times and also reinstalled everything to get the same error again) I get another error:
"Error - Authentification failed!"
The only option to continue is "<OK>" and that gets me back into the status page.
Does anyone know this problem or can help me with a solution-approach?
Greets,
Veldor
Authentification failed when entering System Settings

Re: Authentification failed when entering System Settings
What is the appliance version? Where did you get it?
When installing OTRS normally, at the web setup you should have a step where you have to define your SuperAdmin password. See here.

Re: Authentification failed when entering System Settings
I'm using the 4.0.8 appliance which I downloaded from the official OTRS homepage.
I set the system password when I first bootet the iso to install and configure the server.

Re: Authentification failed when entering System Settings
the appliance is not maintained any more and therefore contains unpatched and unsecure versions. Please use latest version of OTRS or register a trial instance via otrs.com
