Quick questions about using Config Items in OTRS

Post by kool_kid »

Dear,

We are using OTRS 3.1.1 and planning to use the Asset management module of ITSM. I have 2 questions with regards to using CMDB.

1. If I add a new field in CI like serial number in Network Class >> Network, does it automatically gets added in backend DB or do I have to edit some tables in backend?
2. I will be mapping each CI to a user and would like to see the list of CI's associated with that user in Ticket View (Ticket Zoom) screen, how do I achieve this?

Thanks for support.

Hi,

1. You don't have to deal with the database, it's all handled by OTRS.
2. For this you have to search for an addon or develop sth. on your own.

P.S.: I strongly advise to migrate your system to a supported version (4.0.x, 5.0.x).

I've developed such an addon. I can set up a demo instance if you'd like to have a look at it.
