[SOLVED] Migrating OTRS backup to other machine

Post by MusicMaikel »

Dear OTRS'ers,

For my installation of OTRS I would like to set up a back-up plan in case of something going wrong, BUT...
When I try to use the method OTRS is giving in their manual, the creating of a back-up does work, but the restore doesn't.
When I try to restore, it gives me the error of not having access to the directory and it just denies me.

Does an installation get a unique ID so that it won't be able to migrate/restore on to another machine? (This would be kinda strange but could be the case anyway).

I would like to test if the restoring works on a virtual testmachine that is completly configured the same as the original, just all done by hand.

If you guys have an idea of how I could fix this, let me know! : )

Thanks in advance!

UPDATE:
I solved this problem already with backing up the database manually.

What exactly is the error message? I usually do the restore as root, because I sometime had permissions problems as well.
Currently using: OTRS 6.0.14 -- MariaDB -- Ubuntu 16 LTS
