I've noticed that the new OTRS 3.1.8 has been released :) but i've faced a strange missing.....the compiled windows package is not in the repository :(
Does anybody know anything about it?

you should/may be successful in extracting 3.1.8 source on top of 3.1.7 install and rebuildconfig. Read the README and UPGRADING files.

Backup File system and database first.

Thanks 4 the quick answer! :)
When i usually upgrade on windows I delete and reinstall ALL the package (the README and INSTALL seems more related to LINUX)
I got no 3.1.7 installed and so I should before upgrade on 3.1.7 and then 3.1.8.....
Do u know why is not been released the otrs4win package? Will it be released (maybe not?) soon?
Many thanks as usual

You're welcome.

I guess, but if you're not at 3.1.7 (?), you may have other caveats to address with regard to upgrading your schema, database.

No. I'm just a board lurker.

Possibly, though my previous answer would be my method of choice if I were to do it since this is a patch release.

I noticed the same release (v3.1.8 ) yesterday as well and tried to install it on our QA/Test server by copying the v3.1.8 OTRS source files over the v3.1.7 OTRS source files and then running "perl otrs.RebuildConfig". But after doing so Apache would not start up. I did not see anything in the README or UPGRADING files that said anything about database schema changes, so I backed up my production server and performed the same upgrade process on it and it worked with no issues at all. I am not sure why the Apache/MySQL deployment doesn't like the upgrade, but be sure to backup your system before attempting this upgrade on a Windows system at least until they release the "all in one" installer version of it...

OK, I figured out how to apply the v3.1.8 patch upgrade to and existing v3.1.7 on a Windows server that was deployed using the "all-in-one" installer...

1.) Download the OTRS source files for the v3.1.8 release from the OTRS website.
2.) Un-zip all of the files in a temporary folder.
3.) Delete or rename the following files from the temporary files that you just un-zipped:
\TEMP-FILE-FOLDER\OTRS\Scripts\apache2-httpd.include.conf
\TEMP-FILE-FOLDER\OTRS\Scripts\apache2-perl-startup.pl
4.) Shutdown all of the OTRS services.
5.) Copy the contents of the temporary folder where you un-zipped the OTRS source files to the OTRS folder of the installation you are trying to upgrade and over-write the files.
6.) Start all of the OTRS services.

Viola, you are now upgraded!!!

Just a matter of data substitution? No rebuild needed from 3.1.7?

Ok, sorry. I forgot a step. You also need to run the RebuildConfig script. Also for those of you that are unable to find the OTRS source files, I have included a link to them. So the updated process is as follows:

1.) Download the OTRS source files for the v3.1.8 release from the OTRS website. You can find the source files at:
http://ftp.otrs.org/pub/otrs/otrs-3.1.8.zip
7.) Start a command prompt, then change directory to the folder where your OTRS system is installed. Then run the following command:
perl bin\otrs.RebuildConfig.pl

Viola, you are now upgraded!!!
Production: OTRS 3.1.8 on Windows 2008 R2 Server, IIS v7.5, and SQL Server 2008 R2 database
QA/Test: OTRS 3.1.8 on Windows 2008 R2 Server, Apache, and MySQL database

Sorry to hijack the thread a little, but I've just upgraded from 3.1.1 to 3.1.8 on Windows by

backing up the database
backing up otrs directory
Exporting settings from SysConfig
uninstalling 3.1.1
installing 3.1.8
importing the database backup
copying over config.pm and zzzauto.pm from the backup of 3.1.1 to the new install
running perl otrs.ReuildConfig.pl

Couldn't log in, so restarted the services and then I could log in successfully.
Imported Settings back to sysConfig

Is that all there is to it and are there no database upgrades between 3.1.1 and 3.1.8

Cheers

If you are running a lower version of OTRS you have to follow the upgrade path
to 3.0 first (1.1->1.2->1.3->2.0->2.1->2.2->2.3->2.4->3.0->3.1 ...)!

Please note that if you upgrade from OTRS 2.2 or earlier, you have to
take an extra step; please read http://bugs.otrs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6798

Within a single minor version you can skip patch level releases if you want to
upgrade. For instance you can upgrade directly from OTRS 3.1.1 to version
3.1.4. If you need to do such a "patch level upgrade", you should skip steps
9, 11 and 13-19.

Please note that for upgrades from 3.1.beta1 or 3.1.beta2, an additional step 21
is needed!
"So do I have to do database upgrade or not?"
... what is your version?
"3.1.4"
Is that 3.1.beta1 or 3.1.beta2?
"no"
That's your answer.

"3.0.x"
Follow the upgrading steps in the file, completely, including database.

"2.4.x"
Upgrade to 3.0.x paying attention to that 3.0x UPGRADING, including database

"<2.4.x"
follow the upgrade path above.

my error is:
httpd.exe: could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name
using "my external ip" for serverName
Error:Can't open : No such file or directory at C:\PROGRA~2\OTRS\OTRS\bin\otrs.CronWin32.pl line 40

But the cron service was started sucessfully...

I don't understand

how can I solve this?

ps.: my OTRS is working to the point that I tested ... but do not know if this error can get worse ....

If it doesn't stop Apache, and therefore OTRS from working, this is a cosmetic warning.
"What could it break?"

Not much. But you could find out how to adjust it, if it bothers you.

Is this a constant error or just on start? Again, if it's just on start and cron is running, no big deal.

Let me jump in!
Yesterday I've upgrade the otrs from 3.0.11 to 3.1.8
What I've followed has been
uninstall
install
import database

run update scripts
Cmd> E:\OTRS\Mysql\bin\mysql.exe -uroot
Mysql>use otrs
Mysql>source E:\OTRS\OTRS\scripts\DBUpdate-to-3.1.mysql.sql
Mysql>quit
cmd> E:\OTRS\StrawberryPerl\perl\bin\perl.exe E:\OTRS\OTRS\scripts\DBUpdate-to-3.1.pl
cmd> E:\OTRS\Mysql\bin\mysql.exe -uroot
Mysql>use otrs
Mysql>source E:\OTRS\OTRS\scripts\DBUpdate-to-3.1-post.mysql.sql

That's all
No Otrs.RebuildConfig.pl or DeleteCache.pl run (no idea if are needed)

About cron issue: in the directory OTRS/var/cron u'll see a file otrs.Cron4Win32.pl; open it and at line 40 u'll see that the variables are not filled in.... please fill them!
my $PerlExe = "E:/OTRS/StrawberryPerl/perl/bin/perl.exe";
my $Directory = "E:/OTRS/OTRS/var/cron/";
my $CronTabFile = "E:/OTRS/CRONw/crontab.txt";
my $OTRSHome = "E:/OTRS/OTRS";
